Dr. Barbara Edington, and Peter Morales were selected to present their research paper “Project Management Skills for the 21st Century” at the International Conference on Project Management in Anchorage, Alaska, which was held in September 2008.
The conference integrated theoretical academic research with the applied needs of the business community and over 300 business leaders and faculty from around the world attended the meetings. Dr. Edington also participated in the inaugural session of a knowledge- exchange committee for college and university professors from Japan, Australia, France, Korea, Singapore and Indonesia. The committee’s intent is to develop collaborative teaching practices and education programs to further global project management.
· The conference included presentations about the nuclear power industry in Korea, the new Alaskan gas pipeline that is under consideration, and managing risks in environmental projects.
· The economic growth in Alaska is creating a great need for project managers and the pending gas pipeline development will put an even greater demand on the existing human resources.
